Criminal law

Attorney Weber has been a practicing trial attorney in Massachusetts since 2008. From 2008 until 2017, she was a public defender at the Committee for Public Counsel Services, where she represented indigent clients in criminal cases in District and Superior Courts in Hampshire and Franklin Counties.

Rachel started her own practice in 2017, and continues to handle criminal matters in trial court and at post-conviction proceedings. She represents people charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanors to major felonies.

In addition, she has represented and consulted with groups facing criminal charges related to civil disobedience.

Civil litigation

Attorney Weber represents clients in civil rights cases in areas including police misconduct and academic freedom. She is a volunteer with the Immigrant Protection Project of the ACLU of Massachusetts, which provides a variety of free legal services to immigrants. She has also partnered with the Media Education Foundation, Jewish Voice for Peace, and Palestine Legal.

“Rachel Weber fiercely advocates for her clients because she clearly understands how the law reproduces structural violence. I first met Rachel when she represented me in a civil disobedience case. She accessibly presented information and options so that I could make an informed decision. Her political integrity, emotional intelligence, and legal expertise are an invaluable asset to our movements.”
